Stumbling Into The Tavern

Aurora and I tend to go out every once and a while and splurg on something to eat (and by splurg I mean a meal that costs more than 13$ before tax, because student life). We always tend to have a set place to go; Gabby's, Fran's, Kenzo Ramen, but this time we wanted to try Panera Bread and let's just say...we never got there.

One thing we always fail to notice when we go outside is the temperature. So when we left my apartment, getting smacked in the face with cold wind was a horrible and unexpected experience and we decided we were definitely not going to walk 30 minutes for a bowl of soup and a sandwich. There was a resturant pretty close though, one that we have been meaning to try for a while but never really got to it. It is more fun to explore after all, as long as it's not cold. So we decided to have Panera another day and try out Museum Tavern.

To be honest, we should've figured out by the name itself as well as the look of the building that it was a resturant more on the fancy (and pricey) side, but we walked in anyways. When we entered we knew we were definately out of place. Let's just say both of us were in our sweatpants and comfort clothing and we were definitely the youngest people eating there. The lighting of the resturant was a bit on the dim side and each table was lit by a small candle. If anyone were to see us they'd assume we were on a date, it's happened a few times for us already.

Throughout the whole night we couldn't stop saying "I am a beacon of sin" for every mistake we made. It started with the out of place clothing and it progressed until Aurora dropped a fork onto the ground. We both saw it slip from her fingers and tensed when it clanged on the ground. It was so loud that the tables around us started to stare. I was half sure we were going to become one of those "weird work stories".

I have to say though, the food was amazing. I got myself a buttermilk chicken burger and it was stuffed with slaw, chicken, lettuce, jalapeno peppers and it was brought together by an adobo mayo sauce. The bun was soft to the touch and I wanted it to last forever. The serving of fries was also amazing, though a bit salty , half of my plate was filled with fries. So, be warned if your trying to watch your carb intake, substitute for something else.

Aurora got the Shrimp Po’ Boy and don't be distracted by the name like I was, because if you are a shirmp fan, it is a definite go to meal. The sandwich was filled to the brim with shrimp, lettuce, onions, pickles, and finished with remoulade. To be honest, with the amount of food we got I was surprised we even finished.

Aside from dropping food and the fork incident, we had a great time. We definately have plans to visit again, but next time we're going to pick ourselves up some cocktails or wines (and maybe next time we'll ask for a table for four instead of two)
